Common questions
Is Local Loop free?
Yes. Founding members can join free for a limited time while we test, learn and shape the first Local Loop on Auckland’s North Shore. We may introduce paid membership or additional services in future, but we’ll always communicate any changes clearly.
What about tax and GST?
Even when no money changes hands, a business exchange may still need to be recorded for tax and GST purposes.

She provides $500 worth of photography to Tom.

He provides $500 worth of website support to Sarah.
No cash changes hands — but each business has provided and received $500 of services.
They record the exchange appropriately in their own business accounts. If they’re GST registered, GST may also need to be accounted for.
The good news?
Local Loop doesn’t manage your tax or accounting. We simply help you find the connection. You agree the value and terms of the exchange directly with each other.
Each participant is responsible for their own invoicing, record keeping, tax and GST obligations. If you’re unsure, check with your accountant or Inland Revenue.
